Dr Jim Hagan PSM

Chief Adviser, Department of the Treasury

Dr Hagan is currently covering national security and economic engagement with the Indo-Pacific for Treasury. He returned to Treasury in late 2016 following a five-year secondment as a Deputy Director General in the Office of National Assessments.

Dr Hagan was an Executive Director on the Board of the World Bank 2007 to 2011, and Deputy Secretary in the Solomon Islands Ministry of Finance 2005 to 2007. He was also the executive member of the Foreign Investment Review Board, headed the Domestic Economy Division in Treasury and led the GST Start-Up Office.

Dr Hagan also worked in the New Zealand Treasury from 1992 to 1998: covering labour market, tax and education reform, and was part of New Zealand’s delegation to Kyoto in 1998.
